If President Obama is wondering what his legacy will be I have a few answers, capitulator, spineless, back-stabber, sellout, etc. You see where I’m going with this. Mr. Obama has once again given in to Republican Terrorists and in the process thrown the elderly and disabled (of which I am one) under the bus by offering up cuts to Social Security. Not only is Mr. Obama giving up his promise to protect the most vulnerable Americans, he is allowing Republican talking points to shift focus from the jobs crisis to a manufactured debt crisis that Republicans readily admit is not an immediate issue.
“If Obama is serious about dealing with our deficit he would not cut Social Security – which has not added one penny to the deficit,” Senator Bernie Sanders said. “Instead, he would support legislation that ends the absurdity of one out of four profitable corporations paying nothing in federal income taxes. He would also help us close the offshore tax haven loopholes that enable large corporations and the wealthy to avoid paying $100 billion a year in federal taxes.”
How many more promises are we going to allow the Obama administration to break? If President Bush were still in office there would be millions of so called Liberals up in arms demanding impeachment. Unfortunately we have far too many spineless Democrats who will blindly follow Obama no matter how many core principles he tramples on. Watch for his support of the Keystone XL pipeline, fracking and abandonment of his promises on climate change. I know this sort of criticism will open me up to attacks from both sides, but as long as I don’t get hit by a drone strike I will continue to stand for TRUE progressive values.
